Le MAHHSA est un musée singulier, au cœur de l’hôpital Sainte-Anne: il désigne, en ces deux coordonnées spatiales (musée, hôpital), la nature de ce qu’il est : un lieu où s’exposent les productions d’artistes qui ont côtoyé la pathologie mentale.
Pas forcément moins malades d’être artistes, pas forcément plus artistes d’être malades. Réunis, l’art et la maladie ne se justifient ni ne s’expliquent mutuellement pour autant. Ils dialoguent.
Sooner or later, the Aftermade had to be fixed.Not to trap it — it would not survive enclosure — but to give it a first form, a ground, a foundation from which its apparition could finally recognize itself. The Aftermade is not a concept thrown into the air: it was born from years of observation, wandering, failed gestures, walls whitewashed too quickly, stubborn traces that refuse to disappear.
